Parachute Praise
This is good with a smaller group (up to 20) depending on the size of the room and the size of your parachute.
• Parachute praise
Either number the children or allocate colours, i.e. 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4 round the circle so that you’ve got several of each number / colour.
Explain that you’ll all be rippling the parachute and then when you shout out a number / colour you’ll lift up the parachute into a mushroom and the children who have been given that number / colour need to swap places, calling out ‘Thank you God for ________’ as they go. Explaining beforehand should hopefully give them time to think!
There may be some children who don’t want to call out but hopefully there’ll be enough who will to make a shout of praise. Once everyone is back holding the parachute, pull it down and start the rippling again.
• Parachute prayers
This time, explain that after you’ve mushroomed the parachute, everyone is going to go under but needs to keep hold of the parachute. Everyone then sits down, surrounded by the parachute. (Please note – it’s important that you have more than one CRB-ed adult underneath the parachute, and preferably several.)
Now that you’re all contained in a smaller space, this is a chance for some quieter prayer. Invite the children to say ‘Please help ________’, but again allow them the chance to say ‘Pass’.
Garment of Praise
This can be done in a variety of ways.
The possibilities are endless. If you think of a really creative way to make a garment of praise, why not send us a photo afterwards?
