Toybox - let the street children live

Fiesta Alabanza!

Fiesta Alabanza is a unique way for you to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Toybox child Ambassadors and the other children they represent; to pray into the lives of children at risk in Latin America, and to call out to God for powerful change.

In June 2009, 16,000 children and adults took part in a special prayer event across Toybox-supported projects in Latin America. They were part of the Viva weekend of prayer for children at risk - an extraordinary occasion that involves over two million people worldwide. In June 2010 we hope you will join them.

Need some ideas?

You could theme your Fiesta Alabanza event so that you get a feel for the Latin American flavours - why not have some Latino food available? You can download some recipies here

As a prayer stimulus, you might like to have some items or some visual representation of some of the countries in Latin America - you could use flags, photos, items of Latino clothing, music - anything to encourage and stimulate your thoughts and prayers for Latin America.

"I felt very nervous when I was standing in front of so many people, but then words came from my mouth, the sun was shining over the people ... it seemed that God was about to descend, it was something incredible." Sarah (14)

“I liked the weekend of prayer because we are praying for the children and for all the world , for the projects that the pastors are doing. I pray, because is good to pray, if I don’t pray is not possible to talk with God. I asked God to heal my brother from his allergy and God healed him.” Jose (12)

You're invited!

It would be fantastic if you could dedicate some time during this special weekend to bring together a group of friends, family, or children, to pray alongside with the young people at Toybox supported projects. Please register your commitment to pray here and you will be added to our map below!

We know it will mean so much to the children to know that you are standing with them in prayer.

What actually happens at the weekend of prayer?

We have prayer gatherings in churches, stadiums and other buildings around the city. Children lead all the prayers. We also speak to radio stations and TV stations, raising awareness. The children march through town with placards showing different reasons for prayer, messages about rights and blessings for the community. In one city prayers were written on hundreds of balloons, which were thrown into the sky, with a background choir of 50 children.” - Ines Caballero – Bolivian Director

“I like the choreographies and the prayers that we said for the children in countries at war. Yes, I like to pray, because it is the way I communicate with God, and I ask him for everything that I need and I ask him to forgive me for all my sins and He forgives me.” Andres (14)

“I like the songs and the choreographies, the assignments that we do together in groups. I like to pray, because I believe that God gives me the mother’s love that I never had. I miss her a lot. I never meet my mom, and I pray to God for her.” Jorge (16)

“Yes I like to pray, because I can talk with God, he listens to me and answers my prayers.” Lourdes (11)
