Toybox - let the street children live

Fundraising for young people

It’s great to know that young people here in the UK are keen to help others of a similar age in Latin America. Children and young people often have great enthusiasm for new and exciting activities so here are a few ideas to inspire them…

  • Sponsored sporting events
  • Carry out errands around the house in return for small change that can be donated to Toybox, or on a larger scale…
  • Litter picking
  • Car Washing
  • Cake sale
  • Collecting coins to make a mile
  • Mini marathon
  • Welly throwing competition!
  • Sponsor to stop (watching tv, eating crisps etc)
  • Face painting
  • Non school uniform day
  • Pancake races

These enthusiastic fundraisers come from Axbridge in Somerset where they have been waving the Toybox flag at a scarecrow festival in their home town.

The girls, Sarah (11) and Emily (8½) ran a cake and toy stall outside their house during the festival and so all the people who came to see the scarecrows also came to Sarah and Emily’s wonderful stall.

The girls even made their own very fetching scarecrow (called Eric) to attract customers! In that one Saturday morning, Emily and Sarah raised a massive £60 for the street children – well done girls!
